I'm trying not to bother you guys but....

I just committed myself to recapping my early 70s DR103, so I went over to Vintage Hiwatt Restorations and bought a recap kit. I was so busy being concerned about the 16/16, 16/32, 32/32 cap value question that I didn't look very hard at the others, so I ended up with 3 250mfd caps instead of the original value 220mfd caps.

Is there any problem with using the 250mfd caps in place of the 220s, or should I try to correct that dicrepancy? It looks like there are 220s available there, and if I'd been sharp - I wouldn't be asking this question.

absolutely no issue what so ever.

The long overdue 220uf caps arrived the day after I shipped your kit out.

Particularly with electrolytic caps, the tolerances can be pretty lax, so a '220' might actually measure as 250 and and a '250' might measure as 220!

You really have to halve or double the labeled value before you start to worry about it.

Thank you gentlemen. I've committed to the exchange, and all the new caps are now in place. I took it to my basement for a test drive, and no flames sprang out when I turned it on. Guitar sounds came out of it and everything! (I still have to run it up for a while - I was gentle out of consideration for the neighbors.)

Now I can move on to my further adventures with mix-n-match preamp tube swapping.
