So, why is the center turret board charred and what are the extra capacitors & resistors doing on this DR103?

they are using the large axial caps instead of the can caps. The wiring has been rerouted.
As for the fire damage..........looks like catastrophic resistor failure.
Makes me wonder if it could be a fixer upper??????????
