Having been a member of this most excellent forum for a few years now its just occurred to me that i have never posted a thread with pics of my head and cab!

so here it is!

an early '73 DR103 100w head. Hylight 4-input, purchased from the original owner 22/01/10 on ebay. ex cond, it is all original, never been touched, Partridge codes H2093M H2092M, Pot codes-2xRS72/44 3xRS72/46 1x?71/23 1x?70/19, Cap codes-1x plessey16uf 72/38 3x plessey220uf 439/1/23401/481caps 1xRS72/15 cap, org mullard el34s, org brimar pres, org bulgin power lead, Inside, no H.J. but all the solder joins have the red pen mark, still got all the org mustard caps an blue resistors, the only time it has seen a solder iron was when it was made, in fact I'm sure the only time the chassis has been out of the box was when he took pics to put on ebay! comes with org black with blue pipe cover, even came with original reciept of purchase when new in Feb 1973 for 90 pounds! WOW! I am a lucky boy! apparently he used to have 2 dr103\s with 2x hiwatt 4x15's which he played bass thru during the 70s an its been in his front room since the early 80s!

and a late '73 SE4122 fane loaded cab. Hylight 4x12 Hylight AP 150w 16ohm 4x12, 4x 38/73 122142 cast frame Fanes with purple Hiwatt labels, 50w 17000 flux density, with original wiring harness, untouched black interior with DF initials chalked inside, original black/blue piping vinyl cover, OEM wheels, as new cond, also has original factory custom order grill cloth similar to S n P but a bit more silvery. acquired summer 2010, all in all a fantastic sounding and looking cab!

interesting points are the head came from a fella down south (uk) devon or dorset or something. he had it set up in his front room and was moving house. so onto ebay it went along with a sai 4x12 with pre rola greenbacks (for sale if any1 is interested) i bought it, travelled down to get it. arrived all excited and it was in fantastic condition just needed a dust down and a pi valve.
the cab came later that summer when i travelled down to norfolk to pick it up along with an early 70's sound city 50+ head an cab (also for sale, if any1 is interested). and again was amazed at the great condition it was in inside and out, all original still with wheels and cover and of same time period as the head. but not with the std salt n pepper cloth of the time but a custom order cloth which, funny enuf, was exactly the same as the sai cab the head came with!

so all in all 2010 was a great year for amp acquisition! and its great to be a proud owner of a pair of really clean/fully functioning hiwatt examples made in the same year i was born!

i know!! ta very much

thats why i put them in flight cases to take them out gigging. which they have been out on some great stages, but it seems these days its just to big and loud for the type i play on now so need to sell the flight cases and put the covers back on them and enjoy them at home, as when in the cases they just sit in storage. altho when back home i might go deaf a bit quicker!
