Hello my friends,
just bought this speakers:

Let's see what sort of 'coil rub' there is. Maybe centering will fit....
Cheers

I have a 122231 speaker with a very resistant voice coil rub - tried the traditional acetone and re-centering treatment ad nauseam with no result until I discovered the whole basket was ever so slightly warped. These Fanes have such tight voice coil gaps that it takes very little to create a rub. I suspect overtorqueing is a frequent reason for voice coil rubs with these speakers. I managed to make mine work again by playing a signal through the speaker, cone up, and finding out how to compensate for the warp in the frame. Forget about bending the frame back into shape - but you may be able to compensate when mounting the speakers. Find out where you need to push down on the frame to make the rub go away. Then when you mount it you can put a coin under the frame in strategic spots, so that when you tighten the screws the frame will bend back into shape. I managed to make my speaker work without a rub with this method. I've had to re-tighten it once, but it works.

OK, very smart idea! Was the wrap visible at your speaker?'

No, it was impossible to see with the bare eye.
