Watch out for scammers!

Post by shakti »

Just a word of warning - there's a guy who contacted me via a WTB ad I placed here for a 122231 speaker. He presents himself as Ken Radford. First warning sign was the lousy English in spite of his English name...but what really drove it home was this...and this is actually quite funny:

He sent me photos of the alleged 122231 for sale. Hmmm 50/71 date code...that's funny...don't I own a cab with 50/71 speakers? Let's try Google...first image that comes up is of *my* actual cab, identical to the photo he sent me! This scammer tried to sell me my own speaker! LOL!!

Thanks for the warning, though; good call... 8)

Ha - busy fellow. This showed up in my inbox a few days ago. I promptly ignored it, despite the lovely Spanish greeting...

Thanks for the warning, this guy contacted me too :)

There was no chance ofc to sell me anything. Asked him for photos with no response. Also he is not a member here for long time. It was his first posts.
He signed, Greetings from Spain.
Hate it when people compare David Gilmour to God..... He is a great guy but he is not Gilmour!

Even though I didn't respond, I had a feeling it was suspicious.

Ditto add me to the list. I say we pass the can and then draw straws to see who gets to fly across the pond and lynch him.

The PLOT thickens. This just turned up on my local Craigslist.

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/m ... 13489.html

I'm pretty sure I've seen the same posted pic before on ebayuk. I've posted on this site to do a 122142 quad (mine) for 122231 quad swap. I contacted him about the ad and he claims 122231 drivers but he's in NO panic to set up a meet. Also a Gmail addy so I suspect same dude. If anybody else here see's the ad pop-up in your hood chime in. Probably trolling this site and saw my location under my icon and decided to post a fraudulent ad in an effort to reel me in.
