some advise please

Post by tmonz »

I have a dr103 hiwatt ap amp serial# 1504 (hylight) and cabinet se4123 serial# 2865 from the 70's. Can anyone tell me about this? Is this considered vintage? or is it just another remake. Any input would be appreciated. By your posts, you all seem pretty knowledgable. Thanks. Tony

If it says Hylight on the back, then it's an original. Clayton, Dave, Mark, and others are the experts, and they can tell you all about your amp and cab from the serial numbers.

Hi Tony,

That is the real deal! From early 1971 most likely. Yes, it is considered Vintage. If in good condition they are Very Nice amps!!!

The cabs is probably a 1971 vintage as well and also if in good condition then very nice!

Can you post pictures?

If you ever want to sell it let me know!!!!

Where do you live? That would be a factor in both answers.

Also, you may wish to edit your post to split up your email address (something like myname AT yahoo DOT com). This is, after all, a public forum and spiders can gather unprotected email addresses.

Puppy :D ! I was playing music in Wisconsin & U.P. Michigan bars (albeit, as a minor) by then.

I like that statement. 8) 8) 8)

I've been looking for a "fixer-upper" so if you do decide to part with it - and Dr. HIWATT hasn't already pulled his Jedi mind-trick on you - please shoot me a PM. Thanks!

I'm sure there is not a person registered on this BB who would not be willing to take those off your hands as is, I know I wouldn't mind! :D

I can restore it or Mark Huss in the Philly area might be interested in doing it as well.

Yes, I've been doing a few Hiwatt repairs/restorations recently. Are you in NYC? I could meet you halfway -- somewhere off the NJTP. And perhaps if we come to an agreement, we wouldn't have to travel a second time!
