Hi all,

I'm new here and have a question regarding a 12-inch Fane I've seen. Its red label appears to read Model 122 / 149, Flux 14,000, 50 watts, 15 ohms and has the regular cast frame speaker look, with no brand label on its magnet. Does anyone know anything about this model? Thanks!

Mark

Hi, I have a clean rub free quad of them from a 1971 Elgen (Humble Pie) cab. Currently sitting in the UK so haven't tried it yet. Hoping they will sound similar to a 122231. Same wattage and flux density....probably a dfifferent cone however.

Thanks for your post! I've installed this speaker in an 18-watt Marshall and it sounds excellent. Very punchy lows. I've not heard of that brand of cabinet; would love to see any pics, if u have 'em. Thanks again.

Hi, I'll post at some point. Still sitting in the UK. Not much to look at right now. They are uber rare. Humble Pie being the only act of any notoriety who used them. They were covered in an Oxblood pebble grain tolex. Mine had been stripped down to bare wood and sprayed black. I knew it was an Elgen when I saw the ebay uk listing as the backdoor still had levant. Although also sprayed black I could see some spots on the edges that were missed. They typically had Fanes, Goodmans or on rare occasion Celestions loaded in them. Generally Fanes. Trying to find some new after market Oxblood tolex in pebble grain to restore the cab. I think I can get away with a grill flip....little or no bleed thru the grill with the black paint. Tan basketweave.

Given the rarity it probably has a good back story. Wouldn't be shocked to find out it's a Humble Pie piece. Scored it for around 100 pounds. I've been looking for a cast frame quad of Fane 122231's forever. The Fanes in the Elgen have the same specs. Not sure about the cones though. Likely a different code than a 122231. Here's one of my posts showing my Hiwatt rig.

Scroll all the way down. Still looking to swap my spare 72-122142 cast frame quad for a 122231 cast frame quad.
