what do u reckon to this?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SS:GB:1120
apparently a 1968 HIWATT 100 WATT DR103, OWNED BY PINK FLOYD, MODDED BY PETE CORNISH
the serials dont match, on the receipt it says 6960, which makes it '74. on the back of the amp written in marker pen (no plate) 4052 which would make it about '72.
i'm inclined to believe the receipt as i noticed a '73 date on the big silver cap. and not a '68 as claimed.
all the PJC's look genuine, dave front, spare 1, and it has all the mods, so could well be, but for the asking price of $30k, mmm not sure on that!
and as for the Shipping, handling and insurance anywhere in the world is $399!!!
and for all that money u have to win the auction 1st to check out detailed pics to confirm its all genuine!

The auction on this amp ended a day later because there was "an error in the listing." What was the "error?" Strange.

The vendor obviously watching sites like this and the GGF, plus receiving queries on the Bay. Will it resurface a third time? who knows.
I think the Cornish sig's are genuine because the 76 one matches the pen and dates of those pictured in Pete cornishes was and brush up pics. The BS is all the "special rubbish", trying to hype the price. there has been some speculation that this may have had the preamp disconnected for Alembic use, but the PC dates do not match that era.
The really interesting thing is a third party Kemper patch modeler, claims to have used this amp which he gives a third wrong date BTW, to create Kemper patches, and the Roger Waters Wem Cab in producing models for the Kemper profiling amp too. I think there is a connection to Andertons guitar shop in the UK, But more likely it is a well loved company here that has "mucked about" inside cloning for their custom series. Obviously the amp has made it's way to the States where money potential is greater.
God I need to get out more.

yep was a fair bit of hype price but christ no1 in their right mind would fall for a 30k amp, would they? more money than sence if they did.

Perhaps, the bigger the "fib", the more believable it might be
?

A piece of "aged" dymo tape with the serial number seems to have materialised. It is on some but not all pics, why would you not put it on the back, why the handle?

yeh thats a bit odd aint it. it is hard to tell on the 1st pic whether that dymo label is actually there, but u can just pick it out.
and he seems to have included some nice pics of himself holding it, he does seem like a nice smiley fellow.
and a nice early dg set up in the last pic. shame its a fake wem super starfinder aswell! (1 of them dodgy mg 1's they lashed together a while back and were charging something ridiculas like £900 for or something)
dont know about the strat, wah and fuzz face, but the echorec seems genuine. i'd have that but i'm sure if i asked he'd ask for 5k or something stoopid like that!
anyway he's prob some nice old floyd fan thats acquired some nice old floydish gear but by christ he needs to wake up and smell the coffe with his prices!

I read this different from you. I thought that the jolly strong fellow was the guy who bought the amp from Britannia a gear rental company, and this seller had bought it from him, but remember MG have also advertised this amp at $23000. Phil Harris gear hire are as far as I remember highly linked to Musicground, whilst also being a hire company.

Also in the gut shots there are 4 components on the preamp board that clearly show that some work has been done there, no red felt tip.

ah right well there u go.
just goes to show, put a nice pic of a jolly fellow on a listing and my barriers are down!
but jezzi grist whos gonna pay tha stoopid price of $50k for it, i mean come on the guy is clearly on a different planet.
hey do u want to buy my table lamp for $3500? phil taylors dog cocked his log on it 3 yrs ago, doesnt work anymore as a lamp but hey its gotta be worth it right?
