Speakers to compliment Eminence Tonkers

Hiya chaps

Now I have essentially got the power section for my amplifier rig done (STA200 and Sound City Custom 3 - Partridge iron, bypassed preamp etc) I want to know what speakers I could pick up to compliment the Eminence Tonkers I have in the 2x12 cabinet at the moment

The other cabinet I have is infact loaded with what bare a striking resemblance to Crescendos. 15" flavour, 2" voice coil, 20k Gauss etc however I don't particularly like them...they are a bit too bright and a bit too brittle for my taste.

I love the mid range growl I get from the Tonkers but I feel like I am needing a slightly different voiced speaker to blend with it.

Bearing in mind Gilmour used Crescendos/Celestions I was thinking of going the Celestion route, but I thought I would put the question to you all first before buying, given my experience with the "Crescendos"

Not exactly sure what you're looking for from a complementary speaker. Can you rephrase?

If you're looking for a bit "woodier" sound, maybe the Cannabis Rex would work. If you're trying to add more defined lows, the Deltas have a pretty flat response curve.

I think Woody is the word to describe what I want. Would you say this is a woody tone?

Didn't listen to all 2 hours, 27 minutes and 24 seconds of it ;) but, yes, I think woody would be an appropriate term.

IMHO, the Cannabis Rex would be worth a try.

Just a bit of a follow up on this

I received my Hiwatt and Sound City back from Chandlers Guitar Experience after having the Preamp in the Sound City bypassed and a presence control added to the Hiwatt.

Putting the Hiwatt into the WEM with 2x15 Fane Crecendos I now love them. I as skeptical as to how much the Presence would change things but I like being able to loose some of that darkness.

Bearing in mind, I was running straight into the Power section (Alembic is at Customs) I loved the sound it made. I can only imagine how good it's going to be once I get the Alembic plumbed in.

I've definately got the Hiwatt bug. I am partly tempted to mod the SC to DR103 specs, given that I have the Partridge transformers in there already :D

That being said, I'll probably just keep an eye out for a DR103 :D
