Unfortunately one of the Hiwatt Fanes has Bass written on it. Can I still use it for guitar, or will it sound dull?
Only way to know is to try it!
I've not seen that model number convention on a Hiwatt Fane before. I'm assuming the model number dissects to "122" = 12" speaker (maybe 2" voice coil?) "/17G" 17,000 Gauss and "T" ...Treble? Any chance there's a whizzer cone on that one?
The other frames don't look Fane-ish to me. But, they may a million speakers so, I could be wrong. Are there any numbers on the frame or gasket?

Thanks OSD. I'm going to put the Hiwatt Purple speakers into a WEM 2X12 cabinet tomorrow and give them a blast, so I'll let you know how it sounds. Not sure about the whizzer but will find out when transfer them tomorrow. I guess it doesn't matter too much about the bass designation, I can get the sound man to mike up the 122/142 when gigging, as long its sounds OK on stage.
The speakers are rated at 50 watts so the two purple Fane's in a 2X12 cab should be able to handle my Hiwatt DR101, I hope? I have removed the two outer tubes to cut the power in half.
Nothing written on the grey speaker, I'll look on the gasket tomorrow.

Should be o.k.. I typically apply a safety factor when running vintage speakers, so 50 watts into two 50 watt rated speakers is about right.

The bottom ones look like Goodmans. Note the drop shaped ridge on the spokes? A good teller right there.
