DR 505 -- Are all the power transformer primary taps inside?

Hi All, I've just bought a Hiwatt DR 505 and it is on it's way to me here in Australia. Before I bought it I noticed that it was 115v, but I assumed being British made it would have taps on the power transformer for all the usual international voltages. I assumed they would be tied up somewhere inside the chassis. Now that the amp is paid for, I'm starting to worry that maybe this isn't the case. Note that my amp isn't one of the ones with a plate over the voltage selector. The chassis is not punched where the voltage selector would normally be.

If you have any experience with the power supply of the DR 505 (especially the ones without the voltage selector) could you let me know if your power transformer had all the taps or if Hiwatt special ordered 115V only transformers for these amps.

My amp is SN 10760 and it has a factory IEC power socket at the back (and as mentioned already, no voltage selector with plate over it).

Any help is appreciated.

hi John,

Is there any way you can get a detailed shot of the insides of the amp from the seller?

Unfortunately not. I bought it at auction. John

Yes, that was the auction. I put in a low ball bid on a whim. Next thing you know, I own a Hiwatt!

Good news. The amp arrived today and all the extra primary wires are tucked away in the wire loom.

Bad news is that the output transformer has been out or maybe changed. It is a partridge but the wiring has been disturbed. Will post more photos and description in another thread when I get some time. Thanks to everyone and hope this thread helps out someone else in the future.

I can't tell if the leads are long enough, but if this is on e of Snowy's amps. I would recommend a voltage transformer that takes in your 240-ish V.A.C. and puts out 120 V.A.C.
