I found this beauty for sale one day while google-ing "Hiwatt for sale". According to the seller it is a 1970 DR-504 with a matching cab, all original parts, including the Partridges and the Fanes. However the serial number he gave me was in the 8000's according to mHuss's site that places it in 1975 somewhere. Either way it is a sweet amp. Here are some pics...

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn51 ... G_0046.jpg, anyone live close enough to Toronto to pick this bad boy up for me and drag it to the Hiwatt convention? It is over a 2000 mile drive for me to get there, which is a long drive, just thought I'd check. If not someone here should pick this one up for themselves, it is in such good shape! Thanks guys.

Not close enough to get there and back in the time I have available.
One thing, though. The cab is rear-loaded. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not of the same vintage as the head.
We've got a couple members in Canada. Maybe one of them is close?

If someone would rather ship it to me once they get it that would work too, How can you tell the difference between the different cab styles and the years they were built? I have been having a harder time finding information about the cabs. Thanks

Here's one resource (Mark Huss' Hiwatt Registry):
http://mhuss.com/Hiwatt/RegCabs.php
Those pics didn't show the cab much but, if you look closely at the photo of the rear, you'll notice there's no evident seam between the top and the serial plate. A rear-loaded cab would have screws and a continous gap along the removeable back panel. Since the front-loaded cabs appeared in late 1979, that cab is probably slightly newer than the head (which would have been a 2 input model by 1979).
It's still a Hylight Hiwatt and there's nothing wrong with front-loaded cabs (I have a couple of each). Just wanted to point out that they're not technically a "matched set".

To the best of my knowledge front loaded cabs began in mid 1978. somewhere between #8040 and 8100 in the cab range of serial numbers. I could double check against Mark's registry, and possibly narrow the above range, but I know it to be accurate as it is.
Kam, request some internal pictures of that amp before you do anything.
a pic of a speaker as well.
Maxwedge413 lives in Toronto or very near, I believe.
Edit:
I checked Mark's registry and the first front loader registered was something like #8367 or 8376. But I had a guy in Europe email me pics of a front loaded cab and if my memory serves correctly it was #810X.....It is possible that there was some overlap.
as far as the amp on craigslist, it is a 'late 1975 and the cab is a late '78-early '79. It isn't a bargain. but might be a decent price if the amp is in mostly original condition...........Again, internal pics are a must!

Here is the only other pic of the amp he has (I forgot to post this one)
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn51 ... G_1071.jpg, I asked him about getting pics of the inside of the chassis, he seemed real hesitant or scared to open it up and take a look, I could probably get a picture of the inside of the speaker cab, as far as price goes on craigslist it shows 3,500 but on Kijiji (
http://barrie.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell- ... dZ50150282) it shows 2,500 which seems to be a pretty good price considering it will cost me about 2,000 to build my own Dr-504 and pair it with a Reeves cab. But I agree with you Doc Hiwatt, I will definitely need to see a pic of the inside before I hand over the cash. Thanks for the help guys!
