RIP, a truly sad day for my Hiwatt indeed.

Hi everybody. Long time, eh?

Sad news to share, indeed. I felt the need to commiserate with the only people on Earth who'd understand my pain. (As an aside, I've been gone so long because I moved - again. And then again after that. And another time. So.)

The set of 70s Mullards that have driven my preamp for the past decade+ have finally given up the ghost and gone microphonic. Was only a matter of time. They served me and the original owner well and at length.

Let's have a moment of silence. Or perhaps not - I can't be the only one who doesn't mind (or, enjoys?) the sound. Could even use it to work a percussion routine into a one man show. Who needs drums when you can suss out a fill on your amp's entire chassis?

It was bound to happen. Thinking I'll throw a mix and match quad of GT 12AX7s in there. I bet Guitar Center can do that and bias it properly at the same time, surely.

Hope everyone's been doing well and playing loud!

Later.

Bryce

Hey!!
Welcome back!

I have had many tired "real" Mullards give up the ghost. it is sad.
Glad to see you still have a vintage HIWATT.
