Buffered Effects Loop DR103, DR504

Post by hunnamps »

Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but my searches have yielded very little. I'm building a 4-input DR103 and I'm trying to employ the most transparent, and ideally bypass-able, effects loop for this circuit. I know Reeves and Hi-Tone offer a loop, but I have not had the opportunity to hear or see these circuits. Since it's a scratch build I don't have to worry about retrofitting into an existing amp which makes it more flexible. If anyone in HiWatt-land has positive experience with a loop I'd appreciate a point in the right direction.

Designing Tube Preamps for Guitar and Bass by Martin Blencowe has a few good effects loop circuits in it. I'd put it after the tone stack and before the master volume.

Thanks Mark - I have that book and will pull it out and take another look. The only concern I have putting it there is the level is considerably lower than the phase inverter input, but perhaps the Blencowe book will have a circuit taking that into account.
