WANTED: some advice BEFORE I buy

This is my first post...please be gentle (LOL)

I've been reading up on Hiwatt, the history and the "ups and downs" over the years.

I'm aware that right now, there are 3 Hiwatt amp producers

Hi-Tone, Hiwatt and Reeves

I've done lots of reading on all three...

So far, the model that appeals to me is the "Little D" mini head and cabinet

I don't need anything bigger than 20 watts, I want something that does clean and can take pedals well.

Does anyone have this amp and can comment on it?

All three manufacturers are REALLY expensive and I want to get as much advice as I can. I live in a small town, nowhere close to a retailer that would stock Hiwatt

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks

Tony

So...I'm just looking for

Welcome, Tony!

A "20 watt" EL84 amp will no more provide a true HIWATT experience than will a Volkswagen Beetle provide a true Bentley Continental Supersports experience.

If you're looking for a particular tone, you might be better served by researching pedals or modeling amps. If you really want to "drive" a vintage Hylight HIWATT-style amplifier, it needs to be over-designed and over-built from the best available "no compromise" components.

One of the providers on your list fits that description ;) .

Dave
