71 Dr103 1/2 stack...value question.

Post by sixty2strat »

A buddy knows a guitar collector who is trying to move a Dr103 71 head n cab. This has been going on for several months, I keep blowing it off and the guy is not anxious to sell no way I could do the 3500 under current conditions. I was told out of the blue he just wants it gone, sure my buddy has done him some solid on vintage guitars of the years, so getting the friend of a friend deal. I was told he'd do 2500.00 I offered 2000.00. Now with covid I am leery of going to this guys house to check it out, thinking the safe way would be do the deal through my buddy. Now the big issue my buddy told me he doubts the guy has played it in 20 years. So I am wondering as the pictures show it to be very clean. If the amp turns out to have a million issues and the speakers are nor fane, could I part it and get my money back in a worst case scenario

2500 for a 1971 DR103 head and cab is a great deal if it's original

$2500 is a good deal for the head alone if its original.
I NEVER buy old HIWATTs without seeing detailed pics of the internals.
a single old 4x12 will not live long if you crank up the DR103. Been there.......sadly killed several old Fane speakers.

HI-TONE, when only the best will do.
