you don't want that bogus blue/gray grille cloth. That was never used by Hylight. Matamp was pushing that stuff as the "real deal" for a while..........

That's waaaaay overpriced! PAs usually go for £250 - £350 over here. The jackass is trying to sell a PA faceplate for £75 too...

Alnico, you let me know the next time you come across a cheap one ok
, for some reason I just think those PA heads are dope.

I'll let you know. They turn up on Ebay UK occasionally, you have to look out for the UK-only or local pickup auctions. The seller of the amp in this thread is something of an opportunist.

So did someone here get this amp? Despite Alnico's opinion, we're dealing with a situation here in the US where if you want a DR201 tomorrow, you have to spend like $3800 at a store, and I'm not kidding. I should have bid on that PA. If Alnico's got one to sell me for 250-350 I'll gladly go for it!
ps - welcoming myself back. I read this forum regularly, though my laptop was stolen in a band van, and I never re-logged in after that happened a few months ago. !!!

Bummer about the laptop!
DR201's come up every once in awhile on ebay. Gotta be patient, but ready to pounce.

Next time I will be
I've heard that these PAs sound great for guitar and bass. Are there any ways in which they don't sound as good as the normal AP amps?

Alnico is spot on regarding the extremely high price in GBP. let alone that the seller had no internal pics.......Were there even partridges inside? I watch ebay.uk like a hawk and this is the second PA head I have seen go for more than 300 pounds in 3 years, the other went for just a hair over 300. With the sudden strentghening of the dollar to the pound, it wasn't a bad price, but hardly a good one either.
Most of these get bought by Music Ground where they get gutted and new serial tags then mysteriously come up for sale as Vintage DR103's and DR201's.........These people have made the phrase caveat emptor never more true!
DR201's never bring as much as DR103's or DR504's. A good REAL one will cost you between $1400-$1800 on ebay

Oh wow, that's extremely uncool. I don't know what I'm doing wanting a DR201, considering the tinnitus already inflicted on myself by a mere DR505. ha.

Jeez, I didn't know they were at it with Hiwatts as well.

I wondered that, too....until my DR201 arrived
. They're wonderful amps and every HIWATT afficianado should have (at least) one!

I think this practice caused the Doc got a severe toothache once.
That raises a completely OT question -- where does the Dentist go when *he* has a toothache?
