Looking to buy old Hiwatt Slave heads if anyone has any to spare.

Prefer the STA 100 but the 50 watt model will do fine for now. :P

Are you planning to convert them to guitar amps?

ps.
Ms. Knightley is welcome to attend the Convention in June!
:P

Don't think so. Just pure power section. Your preamp should work fine with an STA.

Those things seem to appear in spurts. Hope you're able to locate one (or more) through this board.

I sure hope so!

What can I expect to pay for a nice one? they dont seem to be in as much of a demand as say a DR103 or DR504. So they should be less expensive correct?

there was no 50 watt version.
just 100, 200 and 400 watt versions.
Many have been converted to guitar amps, had counterfeit serial tags attached to them and then sold as "all original, vintage amps" by Europe's Leading disgusting scumbags.

When they do come up for sale they are less expensive than DR103, DR201, and DR405s.

Well according to Mr. Huss there is a 50 watt version.

Who is right? Would I be wasting my time looking for a 50 watter? I mean I could allways just take out some tubes from a STA 100 and get the same effect right?

That model may have been listed in a catalog at some time, but I couldn't find a single one in Mark's Hiwatt Registry.

http://mhuss.com/Hiwatt/RegAmps.php

Not saying there aren't any in existence, but they don't appear to be in the hands of the Hiwatt Faithful (who register their treasures ;) ).

FWIW, there are more 200 watters than 100 watters registered.

Yes ive heard that, but dang using some 200 watt slaves for guitar is just plain crazy. I want to LIVE after my first gig with them.

Not trying to talk you into anything - just speaking to your odds of finding an STA of any particular wattage.

Having said that, I thought 200 watts for guitar was over the top, too...until I got my DR201  .

Dave

P.S. Have you looked into a kit of the power amp?

I can appreciate that. Finding "the real deal" requires both perserverance and patience. Best of luck in your quest.

Yes, you would be wasting your time looking for an STA 50.

Mark just hosted the HIWATT Story. It is purely for entertainment, you can't put much value into the info there.

Ive got the cash but no luck on finding any STA 100's.

I think I might have a serious problem finding 4 of them in decent condition.
