A face only a mother could love...

Some of you may have seen this cab recently on the 'bay:
Obviously, it's logged a few miles. Ah, but
real beauty is on the inside:
I met the seller in central Wisconsin early this week and picked 'er up. Finally had a chance to unload it from the Mighty Terraza and strum a few chords. Didn't A/B it directly, but I did have to dial up the treble & presence slightly from the last time I used that particular DR103 (into a 122231 loaded Hylight cab). So, I guess the 125114's are a tad darker. Still woody and very Hiwatt-ish.
She may be due for a facelift but, if called upon, she's ready to serve!

Nice score! A rear-loader for OldSchool! Looks just like the Gruntruck cab, except for the cloth.
My experience is that the '114s are a little brighter/harsher than the old 122231s, but they have that big-magnet punch. Similar to the old 122142, with slightly recessed mids compared to the '231. They're all good, though.
My son uses the '78 Gruntruck cab with 125114s 'cause it helps him cut through and be heard over the other guy's very bright (piercing
) Twin + Tele combo.

Thanks! Got a lot on my plate these days, so it'll be awhile before I can A/B them with my '142 and '231 loaded cabs. If I drive to VHC IV, I'll bring it along.

Nice score Dave! The cab has a certain charm to it, kinda reminds me of a sound city. Did you pick up any Linekugels in Wisconsin?

Thanks, man! Yeah, the white baffle does have that Sound City vibe.
No more need for smuggling Leinie's across the border - it's "imported" now

Well in that case,....enjoy. Looking forward to hearing what your plans are for the cab. A very nice find. I passed on a cab in WI a couple months ago. It was loaded with,.....mojo speakers. nice cab, but alas, the mighty fanes were absent.
