1989 Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion
This is one sweet guitar... thick Gibson tone and sustain for days, even unplugged.
A previous owner put a set of SD Phat Kat P90s in it, and changed out the OEM keystone tuners. A set of Smit's handwound PAF-style humbuckers are on order, and the tuners will be replaced with proper old-school keystones.

It's a beauty! I suppose you're busy getting your Steve Howe chops in order.
Out of curiosity, how thick is the body on the Howard Roberts?

Steve Howe? Not really... very different than an ES175 archtop.
This is my Alex Lifeson guitar... similar construction to a 335, but smaller (14 7/8") deeper (2 5/16") body. 3-piece maple neck + center block, ebony fingerboard.

NICE!
have you had a chance to crank up and get a feel for the phat cats? I wonder what you think of them.
Is that an ebony fretboard? (you must have replied just seconds before me
)
Are you going A2, A4 or A5?
If you are going to the trouble to change the pups, you might get a RS prewired kit. Their super pots are nice!

The Phat Kats are ok... I could live with them if I had to, but I prefer a good Alnico 2 PAF.
Yes, I might as well go with the RS kit while I'm at it.

I would have to guess that A2 would be the best with the ebony board.
Can you keep Derek from taking it to Boston???

No problem there... he got himself a new ES-359.

Thanks for the info. My next guess would have been Nugent
.

very nice! I've been looking at Guild Starfire versions of that... slim bodied, semi-hollow, single cutaway. Same color hopefully too.

Sounds like the Snyder boy's had a successful hunting trip!

All in good time...
The H. Roberts is in the middle of surgery.
The "newest" fold-member just got plugged in last night. Keeper. "She" was born 8/13/82, with two necks.
