Any one know where to source the original black grill cloth that Hylight used on their cabs?

Also, I'd like some of both the thick, and the extra thin, white piping, (the stuff that goes around the grill as well as the stuff that goes across the top and down the back).

The heavy black used in Hylight cabs, was just spray painted salt and pepper! Really!

The thinner more sheer black that you can see through was used in 1980 and later. I am not sure off hand where to find it. but I will look around and get back to you.

I checked antique electronic supply and they didn't have a plain black.

I know that was the case with the very early runs of black grills, but did they switch to a real black cloth - still in the Hylight years? The reason I ask is that my first front loaded cab (the one in my avatar) looks to have a different weave pattern. Hard to describe, but it seems like it's wound on a diagonal, leaving almost round/octagonal openings (see the attached pic). As far as I know, this grill cloth is original to the cab - and it is a Hylight (came loaded w/ '78 Fanes).

Dave, what is the serial number of that cab?

I have a rear loaded 1978 cab #80xx ( I can't remember the exact #) It has the painted grille.

The more transparent black like yours was the most common found on Front loaded cabs.

JR's S&P front loader is very cool and not very common. Don't Spray paint it!

Looked everywhere on my computer and I can't seem to find that info. I'll try to locate it when I get home. The cab's in an anvil case right now and I would rather find a picture of the plate or the number written down that pull off the top of that case...(my back would appreciate it, too!).

I do know that my other front-loader is S/N 87## and, as I recall, they're fairly close to each other in age (though one has been treated MUCH gentler than the other).

Took a day off of work to reshuffle some gear between storage and home - before the really cold weather sets in.

The front-loaded cab with that grill cloth is S/N 900#. It's an SE4122 Hylight model.

And, yes, my back is sore .

Any luck? I'm looking for some too. If not, has anybody found something that is close?
