what are the red-brownish resistors in old hiwatts? are they pihers or beyschlags? the yellowish ones look like the ordinary iskras

Piher carbon films, AFAIK. Much better sounding than Beyschlags! :wink: :wink:

Of course, it's entirely possible that both brands were used. Also, some Hylights have baby-blue metal films throughout or mixed with carbon films.

Yes, the yellow/tan ones are "ordinary" Iskra carbon films (also AFAIK). :wink:

I've got quite a few pihers and iskras lately for my plexis. perhaps there will be some left for hiwatt projects. I'll start to sell if I find any more
