Help with my Hiwatt
I have had this DR105 for a couple of years now and I love it. I know a little about Hiwatt eras and models from looking up info online but a couple of things I'm stumped on. The green and white sticker on the chassis says it was made in 76. Nov. 9 I believe it is. It is a two hole input model but a...

DR105 bias question
I have a DR105. I did an easily reversible bias pot mod that uses a 1 Meg linear pot in between the 47K resistor and the ground. Before the mod, i was getting 60 mA for the bias setting. The pot brought it down to 42. The plate voltage is 498 V. I should be getting around 35 or so, i believe. Is hav...

tube socket in DR105 arcing
i have a DR105 that blew the 3A HT fuse. it sounded great before the fuse blew. i replaced the fuse, fired it up and then it started crackling and buzzing really bad. i noticed a smell and shut it off. one of my power tube sockets had a burnt spot on top that also burned the bottom of the tube. i op...

Re: '76 DR105 problem
the tubes seems fine. no redplating. the resistor value was faded pretty bad. the amp has two 4 amp fuses in it. a slow blow in the mains and a fast blow in the HT. i will change the HT to a 3 amp. i changed the 470 ohm and the 100 ohm resistors, too. i dont have a cab here at the house, so i will n...

'76 DR105 problem
on my 1976 DR105, my 470 Ohm 10W resistor keeps unsoldering itself and coming loose. it is the original green one. the 100 ohm 5W one seems to be ok (original green one, too). i have resoldered these resistors at their junction a few times and after about 15 minutes of loud jamming, it comes loose. ...

i have a 1976 Hiwatt DR105 that i bought a couple of weeks ago. it has been sounding great but the other night halfway through my band's set, it started sounding really fizzy and scratchy and when i would play chords the volume seemed to flutter up and down and the tone sounded terrible. this amp ha...

Re: Wanted DR103 in the US
was looking at a couple of heads in Canada, but i still havent heard back from the sellers. for my price range, a two holer is what i am gonna end up with, im sure. Dave's DR105 is a nice, clean amp and very tempting to buy, just the head case is pretty beat up. i want one with a pretty good shape h...
