Re: Custom 100 januari 1971 for sale/trade
Im getting worried here... Is there anything wrong with my Hiwatt that i don't know about, and is causing major lack of interest ? I've been trying to sell this head many times in my own country, and no one seems to care about it, offering me way less than 1000$ for it, nobody wants to buy it. Then ...

Re: Custom 100 januari 1971 for sale/trade
Harry began signing after a dispute with Dave Reeves regarding payment for quantities wired. Prior to 1973 or so HJ didn't sign them. Harry thought his mil-spec shop was the only sub-contractor, he was surprised and not happy to find out that others were hired to boost production. But are your sure...

Re: Custom 100 januari 1971 for sale/trade
If we were to do this, one option might be to not ship the tubes at all. To lighten weight, another possibility would be to ship the combo without a speaker. You could mount one of your Crescendo clones upon arrival. Just wonderin' : How does a '80's Biacrown 112 combo without speaker and tubes com...

Re: Custom 100 januari 1971 for sale/trade
How can you tell? I thaught HJ signed his amps with a specific signature (so ive read)It is wired by Harry Joyce, which would mean that it was one of the very first wired by Harry, or that HJ began wiring in Late 1970 instead of early 1971.

Re: Custom 100 januari 1971 for sale/trade
Who would be the best shipper out of Belgium? Perhaps we should get some estimates? I''ll do some research and when i know more ill give some estimates. Do you know the exact weight of a DR103 ? By the way... how was your experience with getting something fragile like a tube amp shipped from Switze...

Re: Custom 100 januari 1971 for sale/trade
Hello Dave,
Now that is exactly what im looking for !! A 50W 112 Hiwatt combo....
What year is it ?
Do you have any idea in terms of the cost it would take to ship a Hiwatt head (safely) across the pond ?
I guess the "safe" part of it all, is what it'll make expensive, doesn't it ?

Re: New member greets, and needs advice on a '71 dr103
Thanks Jasperok Well, ill be ordering some new caps soon, but im really not a amp tech guy (i have some basic knowledge, but certainly not enough) First i thought dr. hiwatt was talking about the capacitors on the inside (those mustard colored ones), but after he said electrolytic caps, i looked it ...

Re: New member greets, and needs advice on a '71 dr103
Well, the person i bought it from was keen on keeping it original, maybe that's why he didn't replace the caps ? And as long the missing spool end doesn't affect the sound, well than its ok with me :D However, if i should replace the caps, ill have to let a tech do it, but how do i make sure he uses...
