Re: Partridge transformers, cracking the code. Help needed!
Mark thanks for the info, Although I started this some time ago, it is ongoing and even being able to match a serial to a model helps. So if anyone has an amp that is not on Mark Huss' list, please add it. Can you check that serial 1671 please. According to Mark H's list that is a DR201 not a DR103....

Re: 12289
Is much known about the early sparkle front cabs Dave?
With them looking similar to the Sound City ones, I'm guessing they came from the same supplier with small detail changes?

Any info on this early Fane please?
Cast frame, Fane label on magnet cover, 22w, 14,000 gauss, cone marked 36/102/006
Blue label stamped 60784, not the usual date code seen later.
Many thanks

Re: Paint removal from cab and grill
The paint seems to have seeped through to the rear of the grill so it isn't untouched on the back. I've found some "eco friendly" paint stripper here in the UK called Home Strip. No fumes, safe for your goldfish etc. It's a gel which you put on and then leave. Tried some on the cab but was...

Re: Paint removal from cab and grill

Paint removal from cab and grill
Picked up a sad 4x12 which had the tolex stripped off and was painted matt black. Unfortunately so was the grill cloth! As it is matt I'm assuming it's water soluble so will try wire wool and water of the woodwork. There is remains of tolex glue all over under the paint so need to get that off. But ...

DR201 Pink Floyd
Somewhere I saw a photo of an SAP DR201 which had the black faceplate on it but had Pink Floyd engraved (I think) somewhere near the input jacks.
Does anyone know this amp or has seen the photo?

Re: SA212 - what can you tell me about it?
I would say it dates to early 77 by the black labels on the transformers

Partridge transformers, cracking the code. Help needed!
Alnico's recent post about the second code on Partridges being a date code, got me wondering. I certainly think he is right, but there is also the "what happened to 1970?" question. I've gone through all the info on Mark Huss' site and entered it onto a spreadsheet. I've added details from...

Feet
What size feet were used on the amps and did the size ever change?
I've seen a couple of of sizes but in most cases they are pretty worn and squashed! Would be good to replace with original size.

We often hear about PA heads or Slaves being modified to become AP heads (or worse). Is there any obvious differences in the chassis or elsewhere that will give it away immediately?
If you can include photos to illustrate that would be helpful to us all. Thanks.
