Re: 1970 dr 103 HELP!
Dude, consider yourself lucky to own one of the early DR103's! I played a 'standard' '74 DR103 in excellent condition for more than 2 years and when I found a beat up '69/'70 DR103 with this preamp I immediately sold my '74. It's less hi-fi sounding and has a lot more gain and it's the best amp I've...

Re: Early Cab on Ebay
Wow, this is a really cool cab, rock 'n' roll !! 8) What speakers did you put inside? Btw, if I may post a question in this thread ... I have a 70's SE4122 that was painted black (the whole cab) and when I tried to clean it with warm water and soap it didn't do nothing. Can I use cleaning alcohol or...
Re: FUZZ
Wow, thanks for the replies, very useful info here. So I listened to some clips of the Superfuzz and from what I've heard I'm not really convinced ... I don't know, I still have that Tonebender sound in my head! :) guitar_tod77 I see you really tried lots of pedals and I'm willing to give the mk1.5 ...
FUZZ
So, I recently switched my Hiwatt ... for another Hiwatt! :D I got it from parker_knoll who was generous enough to sell it to me. My 'old' one was a '74 DR103 and the cab had '231 speakers. My 'new' one is from early '70 I guess (the pots inside date to '69) and I run '142 speakers now. It's one of ...

WTB: Hiwatt 4x12
I'm looking for a Hylight-era 4x12 cabinet.
Condition isn't really important, it can be loaded or unloaded.
EU only I guess, due to outrageous shipping prices from across the Atlantic.

Re: 1969 Laney
Thanks for letting us know how it sounds, Louis! I always wanted one of these, probably because of the Iommi reference. I guess it's a loud 50w, right? Would probably make a nice smaller rig compared to a DR103. I own that exact same Laney, mine's a 68. It's pretty much a JTM 50 with Partr...

Those 50 watters!!
Allright, so I've been a very proud owner of a '74 DR103 for two years now. I was always really happy with the sound although it always sounded too BIG for my band or too LOUD for every stage. The only other time I tried a real HIWATT was probably two years ago - it was a '69/'70 DR201 LEAD which wa...

Re: DIY Fane Voice Coil rub fix
I'd like to keep it "stock". So basically any cloth DC will work as long as it fits?

Re: DIY Fane Voice Coil rub fix
When performing this does it matter what "new" dust cap you use?

Re: A small issue with my '74 DR103
I went to play the Hiwatt and it happened again with the mains switch when turning it on. I then turned on the standby switch (still no light) and there was nothing. Turned it off and then on again and there was sound. I then was turning the standby switch off/on for a while and it was normal all th...

Re: A small issue with my '74 DR103
I should try playing the amp when it happens next time.
But right now I remembered, that there was a loud brum from the amp when it happened. Does that rule out the indicator?

A small issue with my '74 DR103
I have this '74 DR103 which has been working great but there's a little problem with it. It's been going on for a while but now I decided to sort it out. Sometimes when I turn it on the pilot light goes on and then off immediately. Same happens when I have it running and put it on standby. Both happ...

Hey Foster, since you're from my neighboor country (I'm from Slovenia) I just thought you may want to check these out: http://www.vintagehiwattconvention.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=880 Unfortunately one has been damaged in transit but repaired by a pro and now works good, the other one (that ...

Recording a Hiwatt?
I remember there used to be a thread about this on the Plexipalace board, but for some reason I can't find it again. This summer I'm planning to do some recording so any input would be greatly appreciated.
