I'm not crazy about cathode biased EL84s in a Hiwatt amp. I have used JJ 6V6s as a wattage reduced (with a bias tweak).

Never used them in a Hiwatt, but tried to tame a Fender Hot Rod DeVille with them. What I wanted was bedroom level cranked tone, and Yellow Jackets don't do that.
Basically, they will give your amp the character of a lower wattage EL84 amp, which isn't a bad thing if that is what you are after. Never had any functional issues with them.
Funny thing is that I got rid of them and the DeVille, and moved on to Hiwatts. I've given up on bedroom level tone!

Even ten watts is too much for a typical bedroom situation. However, I find 20-30 watts works well in a typical small band situation. My JP30 works very well, loud enough for clean sounds too.
