I added pages to my Hiwatt site describing both the Canadian de-mod (http://mhuss.com/Hiwatt/ca_mod.html) and my 2-input blocking distortion prevention mod (http://mhuss.com/Hiwatt/2_mod.html).
I welcome comments/criticism.
Many thanks to JR for allowing his amp to be the subject of both operations.
(edit: added before and after audio clips)

Re: New How-to Pages
Yikes! The before clips really did sound bad! I've gotten that before with other equipment by severely overloading the input. "Spitty" is much a better description than "fizzy"...
It's hard to believe that DR would have let that circuit go out the door. Though, as was mentioned, maybe he wasn't expecting anyone to dime the volume. But these things do have a master volume, so... Maybe he was at the track, checking out the new HIWATT Formula 1 car the day they did the player's test?
Don't tell Clayton... he'll pop a gasket!

You can almost feel the current flowing
You can almost see the circuits blowing

Re: New How-to Pages
Many thanks Mark. The new page is great! I'm sure many will benefit from your analysis and corrections to the circuit. Of the 16,000 odd Hiwatts made, I'd think there is a significant number of Canadian Distributor mod amps and even more with the Fizzy issue that can now sound much better. Typically, I just used my other DR103 and let this one sit, but now I am looking forward to giving it a whirl. I'm sure DR would say "thanks mate".

JR, you should bring it down to the convention!
