WTB: Hiwatt (Hylight Era Only) head and cab - Cash on hand

Post by hongsta »

Hiwatt obsession is in full bloom again. 4 or 2 holes. 50 or 100w. Modded is Ok as long as no holes drilled. Let me know what you have and I'll get back to you ASAP. Even none working is OK.

Andy

BTW, I really appreciate Hiwatt fanatics that run this board. My neighbors might disagree though

Welcome to the forum Andy! My suggestion is: go on ebay and search for one of these:

- "hiwatt 103" to find the Hiwatt DR 103; that's the 100W head.
- "hiwatt 504" to find the Hiwatt DR 504 or a DG (David Gilmour signature) 504
- To find the 50W combo, you can simply type "hiwatt 12"... 12 for 12 inch speakers. Technically it's called "SA-212", but sellers sometimes call it "HIWATT Custom 50 2X12 Tube Combo Amplifier"... so you can find all available a bit easier.

If you're unsure of what you're getting, make sure to contact the seller and maybe drop us a line; we help each other here and there.

The whole vintage Hiwatt deal revolves about the combination with vintage (60-70's) Fane speakers; they do sound amazing. There's a very nice vintage catalog here, if you aren't completely familiar:

And by the way: don't worry about the neighbors. Get an attenuator: an "Ironman" or an "Aracom PRX150-DAG" can give you -40 dB, which is enough to tame a 100 W head. And don't be cheap on earplugs; custom made ones from the audiologist will save you from chronic tinnitus. :)

Welcome again and have fun
