122233?

Post by pillmuncher »

Here in Germany old Hiwatt cabs are somewhat hard to find, because most people who have one tend to keep it. My quest for Fane speakers led me to an old 4x12 Simms-Watts cab, which i bought. It sounds quite good. The speakers are cast frame Fanes with a date stamp of 10/72 and the sticker says they're 50W / 15 Ohms and a model designation SW 124 G. Also, there's a hand written number on each of the stickers, 122233, which seems to be a Fane model number. I couldn't find any information about a Fane model 122233, so I assume it was probably a typo. Or four typos. Or not, and there really exists a model 122233. To me, they sound just like 122231s. What do you make of this?

it is similar to a 122231 but uses a different cone.

Ah, thank you Dr.HIWATT, that clears things up. The cone code is 1021/11, BTW. Google tells me these were also used in some Sound City 40W Fane speakers.
