The speaker is now at Belisle Accoustic for evaluation of the problem.
I'll report back as soon as I know!

cool, good luck!
Re: SE4123 ex Jeff Stinco Simple Plan cab
Finally got the phone call I was waiting for!
There was a short in the coil so he changed the coil without ruining the cone !
I have to go and pick it up tomorrow ,it will cost $85 for the repair so I guess I'm lucky.
He's been in the speaker business since the 70's and have been a Fane distributor in the 80's
so he know's his stuff and laughed when I asked him to save the cone ,he said that all the
guy's who walk's in with a vintage speaker are afraid and he said that the speaker sometimes shakes like hell just being afraid too ?
I have a question!.........what is the cause of a short in coil ?
Thank's!

Congrats, Louis! Sounds like you found the right guy. Wish there were more true "repair" experts out there, as opposed to wholesale reconers.
In any case, should be good as new now .

Could be due to excessive power melting the thin copper wire at a weak spot or a rub physically wearing it away.louis wrote: I have a question!.........what is the cause of a short in coil ?

Re: SE4123 ex Jeff Stinco Simple Plan cab
Thank's for everything !
the cab sounds very good ,I never heard it with all the speakers working, only with 3.
This is a heavy cab ,Gee's ..........my back !!...........how many watts are those speakers each ?
Am I crazy or the sound is very chewy and smooth on the high end ?
Wish I could post clips.

Not certain what you mean by that description. Hiwatt Fanes aren't supposed to have the "Celestion sizzle".louis wrote: Am I crazy or the sound is very chewy and smooth on the high end ?
In any case, glad to hear your cab is back in full song! Let the repair guy know he may want to advertise his services to a wider community.

Well one song that I like to play is Hendrix Machine Gun's with my Univibe or Trower's Bridge of Sighs andOldSchoolDave wrote:Not certain what you mean by that description. I just know when the notes are ear piercing or not ,..... especially on MG's cause I have to pull some high notes
and with this cab ,the high notes are round and warm almost velvety !......maybe I'm lucky
Must be the heaviest cab I've ever had ........how many watts are they each ?
Thank's.....................Louis
