Fane 15s - Differnce between blue and purple?

Post by Zentner »

Hey guys, just looking at Mark huss' page under the pictures of se2150 there are pictures of these cabs with the typical hiwatt purples and and some of an older cabinet with blue stickered fanes.

Anyone know the model # of the blue fanes? Differences?

Thanks guys!

the decals aren't important, but the model numbers are.

Yes I'm mostly curious if both of these cabinets came with the same speakers or if they changed somewhere along the way.

The top picture is a 2 x 15 cab, that's one difference. :D

I have seen SE2150/2151R with both HIWATT decaled drivers and Fane decaled drivers with the same model number stamped on the frames.

Oh well both of those pictures are from this page, Mark... I just thought they were both from 2x15s.

Thanks guys. I'm back in the hunt for some of these speakers once again. I think ill probably end up having to buy a 2x15 and pulling the speakers out if it eventually, as these just don't come up for sake. Do either of you have any experience reconng these or know of a good shop I can send one to? I did see your thread on rubbing voice coils doc, but what would you suggest if it seriously needs a redone?

thanks,

Kevin

both of those pics are of 2x15s.

I have no experience with recones or reconers. I would expect some of the well known places to be reputable and do good work.

The original 15" fanes were only rated at 100w. considering their age I would treat them with kid gloves.

Probably sound great!

Can I throw these in here??

Those cast frames look slightly different - more rounded than the ones from my WEM 2x15
