Some of the components have date stamps that read;
6829 (which means 29th week of 1968)
7023 (which means 23rd week of 1970)
7147 (47th week of 1971)
7205 (5th week of 1972)
the youngest date I can find is
7224 (24th week of 1972) which is stamped on one of the rotary control pots.
The Output valves are National Electronic which are of Chinese origin, there are 3 Mullards (2x ECC83, 1 X ECC81) and a Sovtek which I am unable to read the number on. As for the original serial number as I said in my description and I quote; "

Hiwatt Newbie (DR103)
I just won my first Hiwatt on ebay. Gave it a quick test when i collected it on Sunday, I really like the tone. I thought I should share what I know about it here to get your advice, opinions and any mod suggestions on the amp. The serial has gone but the seller recons circa 72 based on the serials inside

Re: Hiwatt Newbie (DR103)
Congrats!
Not sure what to make of the rather wide range of component dates, but the amp appears to be intact. Would definitely benefit from new filter caps and decent output tubes.
Enjoy!

Re: Hiwatt Newbie (DR103)
Thanks,
i searched the site and it would appear that getting new valves is not that straight forward. What output valves and caps are recommended? and what ball park parts and installation costs should I prepare myself for? What benefit should I notice. Lastly, are their any low cost covers available, failing that, will covers from another amp known to fit?
Sorry for these newbie questions.
