ALL FOUR speakers have been reconed. They will not sound like original Fanes.
He is asking about 2x what is a fair price.

the cloth is original. I used to own the sister cab to this, owned and toured by by same guy.

No kidding! It would be nice if he would cut the price down. In fact, he can have the Fanes as I'm not too crazy about purchasing old speakers. I'd rather have the cab and fill it with newer Fane-type speakers.

if its for your 1969 DR504 you should get some better speakers than the VP's.
They were "almost in the ballpark" 5-6 years ago, there are MUCH better choices out there now.

In your opinion, what speakers are the best Fane replacements for my 69'? I've tried many Celestions and have sold most of them. Here are the Fane-type speakers I am aware of:

Hi-Tone DR-F
Reeves VP
Weber Thames
Weber FC

I'm not aware of any other Fane types out there. As you know, I have the Reeves VP's in my Bogner 2x12. I haven't had the opportunity to test the others on the list. It appears the DR-F's are only available if the enclosure is purchased; which actually may be an option for me if I cannot find a good late 60's early 70's 4x12. As soon as I find the right 4x12, the two Bogner cabs will most likely be sold.

I'll post some pics asap. However, my amp is on Mark Huss' web site, or at least was. Look for the 50 watt metal badged amp with the photo credits from Ross L. I've since replaced the electrolytics with Mundorf caps and put in Mark's adjustable bias. I've photographed EVERYTHING before the job was performed and did nothing in any way to alter the amp permanently. I love it and it seems the tone circuit in my amp is a little different than other Hiwatts I've heard.

Your advice is highly valued and appreciated.

I am guilty of believing the hype and trying the VP's about 6-7 years ago.
They are muddier sounding than any HIWATT Fane, I ever heard, or anyone that I know has heard for that matter.
The Weber products miss the target just as much.

The DR-F is the best replica. I made sure of it.
The others and their short comings were part of the driving force behind the DR-F.

Typically the only way to get DR-F's is in a HI-TONE CAB.

I enjoy having a wide sonic palette at my disposal and have amps/cabs loaded with vintage Fanes, vintage and reissue Celestions, EV's, Altecs, alnico JBL's, alnico & ceramic Webers, Oxfords, etc., etc..

Under Hiwatt power, there is no substitute for a proper (healthy) Hiwatt Fane...unless it's the DR-F. Know that I no longer have a "horse in this race", so to speak. I was involved in a couple of Vintage Hiwatt Convention Speaker Shoot-outs and some side by side comparisons with the very first DR-F's.

I've not heard VP's since the manufacturer switch, but found the originals fizzy and inarticulate when compared to the DR-F's.

Far be it from me to talk anyone out of a 4x12 cab, but there's something very special about the HI-TONE 2x12. Brilliant design or happy accident - doesn't matter. They really sound good. Stack a couple of those and have some fun !

The VP's in my Bogner are actually a little bright sounding to my ears so I'm not sure if that's the Warehouse influence or what.

I'm itching to give the DR-F cab a try.

The speakers were not Fanes as far as I know. The seller thought some Kustoms were in there. Not sure of the year of this cab, I'm guessing mid 70's?
