SE4122

Post by tomb11112 »

So folks, this is what every DR103 needs!
A nice, early SE4122 with original fane 122142 speakers.

It was owned by an old blues player and has certainly seen some gigs.
3 of the 4 speakers are original, I believe one was replaced (with the same type) at a later date.

The wiring was wrong to - the cab was wired at 4 Ohms. I have returned this to the traditional style.

Sadly the serial plate has been damaged and all I can see is a few digits of the serial number. No date on the fanes either.

Sounds great though - just what a DR103 needs!

Can anyone tell from the pics what year(ish) it would be?

One standout thing seems to be a screw slot central to the back panel, above the speaker jack.
Most later cabs seem to have a different spacing.

Date codes on the speakers would sure help.... What type of handles are on the cab?

It may just be the camera perspective, but the front corner radius looks different.

In any case, make sure you scour that cabinet for the missing nuts, bolts & washers. They have a nasty habit of getting pulled into undesirable areas (like the spider) by the heavy magnets.

Dave

P.S. I've found a couple of mis-wired cabs along the way. Now it's the first thing I check.
...Hey! I played that song when it was new...

based on the pics, I'd have to guess 1970-1971
be careful if you crank up the DR103 for any extended periods of time. I've blown several fanes when mating one 4122 to one DR103.

yup i agree with the above, defo early, another sign is the inside is not painted black, which they only did early on.
but nice set of fanes, and bit of smokey mojo on the outside!
U CANT BEAT A DR103 THRU AN SE4122 ON FULL TITS! BREAKOUT THE DEFAID!
