Cleaning my Hiwatt Custom 50

Post by edvard »

Getting this thing ready for probable eventual sale, and it's rather crusty. It's sat in the former owner's dusty garage for the better part of 35+ years. I've read a few things about cleaning Tolex, but I'm wondering; is there anything specific about Hiwatts that I need to keep in mind while cleaning? And how the heck to you take the handle off? I need to remove it so I can get at the rust, and do the aluminum-foil/vinegar trick.
All tips appreciated!

Any Tolex/Vynide cleaner you'd use on an amp will work fine with a HIWATT.

I'm not sure about the handle, I've never removed one.
