A quick check with the mods.
Hi
I dont want to break any forum rules and wish to check with the mod's first if its ok to advertise something relevent to the Hi-Watt amps. I dont want to appear to come advertise and then go, but these items are very relevent to Hi-Watt , Orange and Matamp owners.
Many thanks

Ajaxx,
We have no restriction regarding how long a person must be a forum member before posting For Sale ads. This site does, however, retain the right to remove any post deemed inappropriate.
If your items are, indeed, of interest to vintage Hiwatt owners, please proceed.

I should amend my earlier comments to say that we've intended this part of the forum be used for private collectors / sellers / aficianados. We have not accepted advertising from dealers at this time, though it may be an option in the future (I personally hate banner ads!). As this site is funded by VintageHiwattRestorations.com, we'd discourage competitors from posting items For Sale.

P.S. Nice speakers! Making a trip across the pond anytime soon

If someone sends me an air ticket, I will bring them over.

I am currently looking into prices to ship to the USA and Canada. but the best I can get so far is around $195 with Fedex

Re: A quick check with the mods.
Ouch! Will your postal service handle those? Perhaps, packaged separately? About a year ago, I had a Hiwatt head shipped from Switzerland to Minneapolis/St. Paul. The seller used SwissPost, which handed off to the USPS in the States. I'm sure our carrier was NOT happy, but it arrived in perfect shape and the cost seemed reasonable (this was before oil prices spiked, of course).Ajaxx wrote: I am currently looking into prices to ship to the USA and Canada. but the best I can get so far is around $195 with Fedex
Last year, I flew two cast frame Sound City Fanes in a checked bag down to Dr.Hiwatt for voicecoil recentering. Flew back with a different pair of Fanes. As anticipated, TSA found either the x-ray or amount of magnetism suspicious and opened the suitcase for inspection, both directions. Thinking ahead, I'd marked the boxes "Vintage Speakers- PLEASE Handle with Care" - and, they did

Yep, thats were they come to $195 ( around £95)mikhailwatt wrote:The shipping from the UK for a pair of 122142 Fanes was was £59, via a UK parcel company (parcel2go?) handing off to FedEx.Ajaxx wrote:the best I can get so far is around $195 with Fedex
Go here : http://www.parcel2go.com/parceldelivery-usa.aspx
Scroll down and select USA / Canada Delivery Up to 25kg ( it says Collection and delivery for as little as £64.99 )
Punch in some false details to get the quote ( weight with packing will be 20-25 Kilo , wooden case ) Dimensions ( 15" x 15" x 15" ) and you get £77 ( inc a £13 surcharge that they dont tell you about prior ! ) then add some insurance becasue that price only covers you for £50. So lets insure them for £250 and voila we get £90.94 which is around $195 .
Thats with Fedex and Parcel2go acting has an agent, their starting price never ends up being the final price

Re: A quick check with the mods.
Well, the seller double-boxed it in lieu of a wooden crate, so perhaps that's the difference.

It's still the same price at 5 kilosmikhailwatt wrote:Well, the seller double-boxed it in lieu of a wooden crate, so perhaps that's the difference.

I tried all different weights and dimensions. Every which way I tried I kept getting the same price.
I know they recently put there prices up because I sent a valve head to Germany and the guy who bought it got a quote on the Monday and when I booked it the following day the price had gone up by 10%.
