Doctor,
What's the preamp/style/name/gender of the amp you were using at the VHR convention? You used it to play Can't Explain. Using humbuckers also?

I don't deserve the credit, that was "the Professor" Mark Huss.
I am pretty certain that he was playing my 1968 Non Master Volume DR103. I don't know the exact circuit off the top of my head..........I do love the sound of it!
I keep thinking about offering that amp as a kit, maybe in a 50watt version.

The Doc is correct. My observation was the amp sounds awesome, but only at awesome volume levels!

The Prof. played the Doc's LP, but I seem to remember a '59 LP Jr. w/ a P-90 sneaking in there as well... it could have been HIWATTuser1 playing it through his late '60s '504, though.Herec wrote:Using humbuckers also?
It was LOUD!!! I really should have used the earplugs I brought.

Is the preamp up? Or were all the hylights fairly unique and its a crap-shoot to know what it actually is just by era?

I don't think the "autopsy report" on Doc's '68 NMV has been published yet.
But the Prof. did update his schematics page recently: http://mhuss.com/Hiwatt/tech2.html

No master volume at all? So was it like a sound city 100 with four channel volumes? Or just a DR with no master?
WHAT WOULD YOU PUT IN THAT HOLE?!?!??! YOU CANT JUST NOT PUT ANYTHING THERE!!!

Closer to the latter. As I recall, the faceplate did not have a hole where a Master Volume would go. The chassis probably did.Herec wrote:No master volume at all? So was it like a sound city 100 with four channel volumes? Or just a DR with no master?

I think there are pics of that particular amp in our gallery.

Re: Paging Dr. HIWATT!
the chassis had a hole for the MV, but the faceplate did not. It was part of a very small batch. I have seen pics of one other that had a MV added where it said "custom built" .....what a crime!
