Looking for a nice '70s Hiwatt 4 x 12!

Yes! Preferably in mint condition with original Fanes to match with my 1972 DR201. To be shipped to Canada!

Capsule Music in Ontraio had one a few months ago. E-mail them and ask if they still have it. Mint condition is gonna be tough, though.

They responded to my email, saying they'd get me pictures and details of that cab, but that was it. Future reminder emails from me went unanswered :( . Perhaps it was the cross-border shipping that made them lose interest (NOTE: I'm being charitable and not calling them unflattering names)?

You're right Olsvik, Mint Condition is going to be tough AND pricey. Just finding a Hiwatt cab with good original Fanes can be an (expensive) adventure.

"Pentelicus" (new member here) has a nice looking halfstack on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0299117010

You don't see many SE4122 cabs nowadays, especially not with the original drivers.
You can almost feel the current flowing
You can almost see the circuits blowing

Thanks guys, I'll check Capsule!
As for "Pentelicus", it seems he won't ship outside of the U.S. though. Too bad!

That can be an issue. I know of a nice cab in the UK, but shipping is prohibitively expensive :( .

There were lots o' 'watts sold in Canada. Your odds may be better than most.

Odd that Capsule never got back to you, Dave. They were pretty helpful when I bought the head and cab from them. They weren't exactly quick about it, though.

If I should find just the speakers (4 x '70s Fanes), has anyone here ever dealt with a real good cabinet maker who sells high quality Hiwatt 4x12 clones?

Reeves or Swanson might be the place to start.

You could buy a Vintage Purple-loaded Reeves 4x12 cab to tide you over until you locate the real deal. They're reasonably priced and seem to hold their value pretty well.

If you can locate an economic shipper, please let us know! I had to turn down a very nice cab because freight across the pond was almost as much as the purchase itself :( .

The stable can always use another Fane-loaded Hiwatt cab (or two, or three...).
