Re: Are those authentic?
The cabinet looks authentic (except for the casters), but the speaker frame appears more "frail" than other Hiwatt Fanes I've seen. It looks very similar to a pair of light duty Fanes I have (manufactured in 1977):
These particular speakers sound very good, but I am hesitant to send very much power to them.
Can you request more detailed pictures and any codes that might be printed on the frames and cones? Are you (geographically) close to the seller that you could try the cabinet?
Dave

Re: Are those authentic?
I really can't confirm the authenticity based on the pics in the auction. The bevel appears totally wrong on the front edges of the cab..........
Can you ask for more and better pics?

My Hylight cabs ('75 and '78) have a much more rounded front edge. That bevel looks more Marshall-y, as do the larger recessed handles. But the s/n tag and basketweave vynide/tolex look right, and I've never seen a fake HIWATT/Fane magnet cover.

I requested additional pictures, I'm not sure if he'll reply though.
(Asked another question but never replied)
Can you tell me what you think about this dr 103?
Sounds like he changed a lot of it.
Will it sound as good as unmodified 70ie 103s?

Other than the addition of cooling fans and ground lift switch, there are NO modifications.
it is a fine amp.

Re: Are those authentic?
Seem to be a couple of molested solder joints in the power tube turrets and it may need a cap job, but it does look very straight.Reh!! wrote: Can you tell me what you think about this dr 103?
So, is this a rare transitional model - with both blue AND gold marked components ?

Lots of them had more than one ink color.
#4112 looks very similar.
Maybe one of HJ's crew was listening to the Stones, "she's a rainbow" while double checking everything?

Ahhh... a Rush/Hemispheres/HIWATT fan. I'd definitely buy an amp from this guy.

Re: Are those authentic?
I have to admit it wasn't that easy for me to understand what he wrote in the description since i'm no native english speaker, so I thought I'd ask you guys.
Unfortunally I'm unable to figure out what's fake and what's not ... thats why I like to ask before I buy something.
Thanks for the Information!

Ah, great! Now, I'll have that song going through my head for the rest of the day ...Dr.HIWATT wrote: Maybe one of HJ's crew was listening to the Stones, "she's a rainbow" while double checking everything?
Feel free to keep those questions coming, Reh!!. That amp is going to make someone very happy. Had the seller not disclosed the switch change, I might not have noticed. I'd take that as a positive sign as to his integrity. Good luck, if you decide to pursue that DR103!

I would not mind having a four- hole 100 watter to go with my 50 watter...
