Silver dust cap on Fane

Post by louis »

I have a 1978 SE4122 Cab with the original speakers with silver dust caps.
From when to when were these silver caps made and is there a specific reason why they changed color?

Thank's!.............................Louis

When you say "silver" do you mean grey-colored cloth or actual aluminum dust caps?

If the former, I have seen those used in the front-loaded era of cabinets. Hiwatt did eventually change the Fane models used in front-loaders, but I don't know if the dust cap change was anything more than cosmetic.

I've never seen a Hiwatt Fane with an aluminum dust cap. Sound City's and Crescendos, yes. Hiwatt, no.
