Hey Folks,
I started a new thread for this amp. It's a 1980 Hylight DR103 that is a turret board amp but has features from the PCB amps (line in and chassis).
Here are links to the photos:

It has a few blemishes in that it had a half power switch added at some point, and a few components have been replaced. It looks as thought 3 of the cap cans are starting to bulge, so time to order a few.
This is a bit of an oddball amp, but still a Hylight Hiwatt. The innards are much cleaner than my 77 Sound City Tour Series (not the SMF).

That is a cool transitional amp. There was lots of change going on like plans in the works to change to PC boards. The chassis is like you would find on a later PC board amp, yet it still has Turret board construction. This would imply that PA heads were discontinued as chassis changes would not allow for PA use.
cool!

The inspection date on this one is 31-1-80, or January 31, 1980. So PCBs were in the plans for soon hereafter, or was it at the same time? IDK.

Hi
In the picture 0271, is the 5 blue things are Caps ? Are they what you call Caps ?
I have the same amp...1983. Just order 2 kits of all valves (EH & JJ) to hear the difference..ECC81, ECC83, EL34..not sur if I have the Bias to be adjust on this amp and not sur what are the caps.
Thanks
Gilles

Yes, the blue cans are capacitors, the ones replaced during a "re-cap."

Mark,
I have received the tubes from Amplified Parts today. And sounds good but I think I prefere the JJ's,(already in)
4 X EL34 EH (Electro Harmonix)
3 X ECC83 EH
1 X ECC81 EH (valve 4)
Almost no more noise without the Guitare pluged in. Sounds more normal to me...Inside the amp, it was 4 X ECC83. (2 Mullard, 1 JJ and 1 no name) Is It make a big difference without an ECC81 ??
Thanks

The difference between an 83 and 81 is small but noticeable (more so if you're playing loud and clean). Feel free to use whichever one sounds best to you.
