i can see some white crud now that you point it out, whereas before it just blended in with the other crud and dust and cobwebs that were in there.

so, it seems you recommend the 16+32 kit for a cap job?

Yes.
I do it to all of mine. I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't do it myself.

great offer but i can't wait that long! it looks like pete cage can take it in this weekend. i'll have to see if i order a cap kit if it will get to me in maryland by friday...

thanks- although it looks like the mullard XF2b's are on the downhill slide of their life unfortunately. i'm having a hard time locating a matched quad of replacement mullards that are "affordable"! we'll have to see how new winged c =c= will do in comparison to the weakening mullard.

the amp got finished up by my tech on monday afternoon so i get to pick it up this saturday morning.

found a matched quartet of nos mullard xf2's for $600, and even though that's a bunch of bucks, the sound is worth it. the winged c's sound great too but not the same a fresh set of mullards.
