Early days: OSD and SG (attn: Hiwatt Bob)

Post by OldSchoolDave »

While on the road to or from last year's Vintage Hiwatt Convention, I mentioned the Gibson SG Special (my first Gibson) I used to own to Hiwatt Bob. His SG sounded so great at the Convention, which spurred the conversation.

Well, I finally stumbled across photo documentation of same. Here, for your viewing amusement, is OldSchoolDave when he was BarelyInHighSchoolDave (circa 1970):

I miss that SG. Can't say the same for the Kustom 100 Lead head  . SolidStateDave just doesn't sound right.

Don't let Mike B. hear that nickname! You may never hear the end of it.

Hey, I was young and foolish. I did have a Fender Showman head at the time, but the Kustom had built-in FUZZ  .

Shortly after that photo was taken, I procured a 3x15" Kustom cab to match the head. Then, I wised up and traded the whole works in on my first Fender Twin Reverb (in '73).

So, give a guy a break :) !
