Any chance you transposed digits and really meant 125114?PhilUK wrote:What can you tell me about Fane 125141 dated 1979 please? Painted steel frames with silver color fabric dust cover. Any info greatfully received!
If so, yes, those models replaced the original 122231 series of Hiwatt Fanes in the late 70's. The "ugly duckling" cab I posted in your other thread is loaded with those. Excellent speakers.

Here's pics. I'm assuming they are Fane, the construction looks like it, but the painted finish is unusual. Could it be that Fane bought the frames from a supplier who supplied others?

They are, indeed, Fanes. The finish is called "hammertone" and was used between the cast frame series and the black painted steel frames. Somewhere in there, Fane also produced plain steel (unpainted) framed speakers.PhilUK wrote:I'm assuming they are Fane, the construction looks like it, but the painted finish is unusual.
The magnet looks relatively small. Wonder what the power rating might be? Can you read any codes on the cones?
Interesting to note gaskets front and rear, to allow for loading in either style cab.
