Apparently, I don't either . Just checked the Rockler site and it's cyanoacrylate. Note to self: forget pursuing a career in Chemistry .

Again, I was directled to use the Medium strength and the Aerosol Activator.

Hopefully, this will give you enough info to locate a supplier closer to you.

Dunno. I hope not, 'cause I paid a lot for that stuff from Rockler...

I think the big part of the equation is the two part glue and fixative. There's time to realign the dust cover before spritzing the fixative, which cures the glue. Superglue sets up pretty fast, which takes away any "oops" time.

i've just read the ingreidents on the back of my bottle of super glue an it says cyanoacrlate.
well it seems that superglue is the stuff, i'm wondering if superglue gel might be better tho?

i ordered some alu dust covers from webers which have come.
so i've cut out the old 1, & looking down in the gap i can see yes it is touching a little at 1 point.
so hopefully it can be sorted an thats all it is, so now treading lightly, looking at the gap i'm wondering what shims i can put in there, it looks bearly wide enuf for paper never mind card, well i tried a buisness card an that was to thick. it seems these old fanes as it has been mentioned before have a really small gap!

late to the party, but superglue is cyanoacrylate.

2 playing card shims seem to be just the right thickness.
have taken off mag it all seems clean, no gunk, have given it a gentle hoover also.
seems that it was just vc rubbing a little of center.
after clean then put mag back on and tightened up then put in playing card shims, now to fine the missuss nail varnish remover an cotton buds.
so normal super glue or super glue gel?

I would use a thin bead of gel on the flange of the aluminum cap, then place the cap in place.

I would think the thinner glue will be harder to handle.

well for the 4th time now i've recentered the v.c. and its still producing a slight rub, better than it was but still doing it, esp on the deeper frequencies.
i dunno i'm thinking all thats left to do is recone?!
i there anything else i can try?

Sometimes the voice coil deforms due to overheating, and no amount of re-centering will fix it 100%...

it looks like theres nothing wrong with it, no discoloring, no out of shape, or anything. it looks like the only thing to do is recone.

well fellas u'll be glad to know it's fixed!!
the reason why it kept on rubbing after every time i recentered was that the playing card shims i was using were to thick!
so i used slightly thinner, just a bit thicker than paper, an that seems to have done the job! sounds great now no rub.
i then, using super glue gel, glued an alu dust cap on that i got sent over from webbers.
i now have a pair of proper working early 70's fane crescendos and they sound great!
they'll sound even better when i get round to building a nice over sized hiwatt 2x12 clone cab to put them in, or toying with the idea of getting a couple of celestion hot 100's to match with them and building a starfinder clone to get the sound of dave. nice!

Good to know and great to hear. Will file the thinner shims detail away for future reference. Enjoy your Crescendos!
