Managed to sneak some time tonight to hastily mount DR-F #1/100 into my '79 SA212, right along side one of the vintage Hiwatt Fanes it was modeled after. Cobbled up the wiring, 'cause there was no time to get the soldering gun. Note to buster: Solder may not be glue, but tape IS tapeOldSchoolDave wrote: I'll let you know ASAP. Next few days are gonna be busy, though.

Anyway, I got a bit of a hum through the speakers, but no guitar signal. Checked all the tubes for seat and tried again. Pretty much the same thing. Then, with the tube shields off, I gazed up into the chassis to see if everything was glowing. The Phase Inverter was not. Hmmmm. Shut down the amp again, pulled that tube and this is what I found:

Tube flashing isn't supposed to be milky white, is it

Of course, by the time all this was done, it was too late to bring the amp much beyond bedroom volumes. Still, the two speakers sounded great together! Will have to hammer it tomorrow (time permitting), when I can push the power a bit. The amp does need some TLC, so it's not performing at full song. Will be by the Vintage Hiwatt Convention, though
