Hi everyone !
I've posted some pictures of some Crescendos I have here ,some of you posted questions and got some answers
about them but no pictures so this is for the record.
I am fortunate enough to know someone near me who has been selling and reconing Fane
speakers since the early 70's and Dave and Doc are right !
they were intended for pa reinforcement.
He told me that they are still high quality speakers and have a little more balls and headroom than the A's , also one of his
customers have used them in an old Twin Reverb amp and it's jaw dropping!!
He has no experience of someone testing them in a Hiwatt cab though and I never had
the chance to try them myself.

Thanks for posting those pics, Louis!
Those have the non-standard bolt patterns / frames Fane employed in later years. The would not bolt up to most rear loaded cabs. Front loaded cabs should be fine, though.

Youre Welcome Dave !
If I have a chance to put them in a cab one day , I will post back
with an opinion on how they sound .
BTW , the speaker tech was able to get rid of a lot of deep bumps
on the dust caps by putting a masking tape and pulling it fast,
he did it several times and it worked , I still have a few more shots
to do to get the dust caps back to shape.
Take care!............................Louis

And last ,do I need the special clips for those or screws will work fine ?
I dont have the clips and dont have the right screws for this,

those could be loaded from the rear.
Is there a particular reason you want to load them from the front?

Oops, I missed that.
I wish I had one of those to use as a template to place new mounting studs with!

What is the zip code in Hiwatt Valley, I'll probably send
them to you if shipping is reasonnable.
I never had a chance to try them so you could
give them a ride in the same time !!

I can compare them to Crescendo "A" from 1973
You should just drive down, we can load them up and you can take your cab home. It may work out to be cheaper?????

It would be great like you say to compare them with the A's because
no one knows how they sound exept for the Fane distributor from the 70's near where I live
that said that they have more headroom than the A's.
And if they dont sound good ,you could keep the magnets as
paper holders on your fridge !!
I could have the cab ship in Vermont at a friend of mine who
often comes to Montreal so no problem !
I'll let you know !

I have them now - thanks, Louis!
I have one installed in the bottom of an older Mesa vertical 2 X 12". They are meant to be rear-loaded, but I don't have a cabinet with the necessary wider bolt pattern. I decided not to mess up my early-70's Hiwatt cabinet...
Sound? Terrific! They remind me of a good JBL - balanced, with plenty of bright high end, but not annoyingly shrill. Very warm and a bit "crunchier" than modern Medusas. Good speakers for rawk.
I will probably keep the one, and sell the other, unless someone just has to own them both.
