Gilmour's amps

I saw this picture at PC and it looks like most of his amps have had a slave/direct out added, at least thats what it looks like in one of the pictures. Does anyone know for sure?

The DR103's have line outs.
and really cool lights on the fuse holders to indicate a blown fuse on a loud stage.

Someday i want to have a pair of hiwatts and line out on one of em. Its such a toss up on how to do it. Its sacrilege to do that to a museum piece but maybe to a player it would be ok. In the case of Dg hes had those amps since they were brand new and makes his living with em. A line out is not using any of the power at all, just the preamp and tone section?

That makes sense with the fuse holder if you are running 3 amps its kind of hard to tell which one failed especially on a loud stage. I wonder if that was a PC thing of phil taylor thing

Probably a Dave Reeves thing.
I have seen two 1969 DR103's with them and ground lift switches like a couple of DG's DR103's.

I don't know how much he actually used the line out, or quite possibly in this case a "line in" that bypasses the preamp. He used the Alembic preamps for one tour. I am pretty sure that he didn't use a line out for OAI, as he used a much simpler rig and halfstack.

In the picture in about the center of 3 of the amps is something I wished I could see better. It looks like some balanced output or something. Its red and has a bunch of wires hanging off it.

It is an old style mains jack that was popular for a few years in the 1970's

I think he used the Line outs into his revolving doppolas, think that was what Phil Taylor was talking about in an interview on the Gilmour Blog, but I might be wrong.

What are those electrolytics between the powertubes, near the bias cap, doing there?

Hard to say based on those pictures. I note that only the 100-watters have it - perhaps it's a bias voltage doubler mod?

I think it is the cap associated with the ground lift switch.

aka the death cap.

That's probably it, thanks. The caps in your pics look the same as the ones in Gilmour's amps.
Never knew DG still uses those early Hiwatt's. I thought the ones he uses where from around '72.

afaik, the last couple he bought were in 1974.
