Just bought an old Sound City cab with these speakers.

Re: Vintage Sound City Fanes?
Yes, indeed, they are Fanes .
17,000 gauss, similar to the HIWATT 122142 models. Good thing your date code (16/72) was stamped on the frame, seeing as how the gasket has disappeared (early Fanes sometimes had their date codes stamped on the gasket).
Some of your cone code may be missing, but "11" would be era correct. How do they sound? Do the cones move freely without scratching?

Re: Vintage Sound City Fanes?
The speakers are in a front loaded particle board Sound City cab.
Just old rubber that I had to remove to get them out and not ordinary gasket on these.
I haven't tried them but they look very good and all four moves freely.
Front loaded cabs made of particle board does not sound very good
so I'm thinking of getting another cab for the speakers. An empty Hi-Watt cab?

That's good news. Get them into a decent cab and take them for a spin!janarn wrote: I haven't tried them but they look very good and all four moves freely.

janarn has my '69-ish Sound City 4x12 with the rock & roll circus grille cloth in custody until I can pick it up. It has the same type of speakers, albeit with possibly different cones (Pulsonic 102 006 and 102 012 in mine). Should make a nice comparison!
